One of our amazing seniors, Nikki Deal is wrapping up her time here at Grove City and graduating early this coming week. Nikki is a psychology major with a Spanish minor, and served as the Sigma Theta Chi secretary during 2016.
Nikki won’t be far away though! She was recently hired to be an in-home family therapist for adolescents and teens on probation at Wesley Spectrum Services in Pittsburgh.
We love you Nikki, and we will miss your cat-loving, Star Wars-obsessed self. ❤
We hosted our last popcorn party of rush last night, the (in)famous Boxers & Blazers party! The girls took photos at the photo booth, made drinks at the hot chocolate bar and got to enjoy a runway show put on by the actives and rushes of Phi Tau Alpha. Based on crowd enthusiasm, Joe Serventi won “Best Legs” and Ben Unger won “Best Walk”.
Last night was our second rush popcorn party which was hosted with the Pan Sophic fraternity and their rushes. Rushes played card games, ate snacks and spent lots of time at the photo booth!
Last night we hosted the first of our three popcorn parties for rush! The theme was Spa Night, and rushes got manicures, ate snacks and took photos at the photo booth as they met actives. We had a great turn out and are SO excited for our next popcorn party scheduled for the following week!
Tuesday, November 1 were Sigma Theta Chi First Formals. During each half hour session president Shelby Kunselman gave a brief history of Sigma Theta Chi before the group played an ice breaker game of “This is My Sister, This is My Friend”. Then the seniors performed the traditional skit “Mandy’s Secret Garden”, after which the entire group sang the “Mandy” song.
With such a large group of girls rushing this year, we are so excited to get to know the rushes and share our sisterhood with them!
This week marks the *official* start of Rush for Grove City College sororities! Last night was Greek Fest, an event where all the sororities are in the same room, interacting with and meeting rushes. Our table was Mexican-themed and we had chips, salsa and virgin margaritas! Keep an eye on our website to get update and see photos from our upcoming formals and popcorn parties!
Sigma Theta Chi actives Rachel Colonna and Rachel Buoni had the opportunity to spend fall break weekend in Disneyworld with the rest of the Grove City College Marching Band. The band was performing in a parade in Magic Kingdom this past Saturday, but was free to roam Epcot and Hollywood Studios on Friday and Sunday.
We can’t resist cute matching letters!
It’s that time of year again- ΣΘΧ formal time that is! Last night, the actives of Sigma Theta Chi and their dates enjoyed a fun-filled evening at our formal location in Cranberry, Pennsylvania. Dinner was buffet-style and included 2 different kinds of salad, salmon and chicken, green beans, potatoes and pasta; for dessert there was pecan and apple pie and cake.
After dinner there was lots of photos taken, and the floor was cleared for dancing! Sweetheart Eddie Ord had some interesting dance moves to share and the actives sang along and danced to sorority favorites like “Closer” and “Fergalicious”.
This past weekend was full of floats, fun and sisterhood! The theme of the Sigma Theta Chi/Adelphikos float was “Peter Pan”, complete with a cast of characters including our sisters Karli and Priya as Tinker Bell and Tiger Lily! After the parade, actives and alumnae headed down to the Sigma Theta Chi tent in “Greek Village”, and around 2pm senior Joy was sweethearted by the members of the Pan Sophic fraternity.
For dinner, many headed over to My Brother’s Place for food and reminiscing. As we like to say, this sisterhood isn’t just 4 years, it’s for life!
Can’t wait for next year!
