Sigma Theta Chi actives Rachel Colonna and Rachel Buoni had the opportunity to spend fall break weekend in Disneyworld with the rest of the Grove City College Marching Band. The band was performing in a parade in Magic Kingdom this past Saturday, but was free to roam Epcot and Hollywood Studios on Friday and Sunday.
It’s that time of year again- ΣΘΧ formal time that is! Last night, the actives of Sigma Theta Chi and their dates enjoyed a fun-filled evening at our formal location in Cranberry, Pennsylvania. Dinner was buffet-style and included 2 different kinds of salad, salmon and chicken, green beans, potatoes and pasta; for dessert there was pecan and apple pie and cake.
After dinner there was lots of photos taken, and the floor was cleared for dancing! Sweetheart Eddie Ord had some interesting dance moves to share and the actives sang along and danced to sorority favorites like “Closer” and “Fergalicious”.
This past weekend was full of floats, fun and sisterhood! The theme of the Sigma Theta Chi/Adelphikos float was “Peter Pan”, complete with a cast of characters including our sisters Karli and Priya as Tinker Bell and Tiger Lily! After the parade, actives and alumnae headed down to the Sigma Theta Chi tent in “Greek Village”, and around 2pm senior Joy was sweethearted by the members of the Pan Sophic fraternity.
For dinner, many headed over to My Brother’s Place for food and reminiscing. As we like to say, this sisterhood isn’t just 4 years, it’s for life!
Last night Grove City College hosted the annual fall semester Street Dance! Actives got ready together on the hall and had the own dance party before heading over to the Street Dance, shouting Sig Thet cheers.
It’s the beginning of a new school year here at Grove City College! Here are some updates from all the happenings of this past summer!
-We currently have 28 actives; both Rebekah Thomas and Adena Bowden transferred, and while we are sad not to have them with us we can’t wait to see how God will use them where he has been leading them!
-Many Sig Thets moved back to school early for different activities, such as marching band, Homecoming committee, sports, cheer leading, etc.
-We have 2 sisters studying abroad this semester, Alicia Smith and Maggie Blume, both located in Prague.
We can’t wait for another year filled with memories!
On Saturday, May 14th, 15 sisters of Sigma Theta Chi graduated from Grove City College in the college’s 2nd biggest graduating class to date. Both Wannida Leutbounshou and Haley Nerlich graduated at the end of the past fall semester, but returned to walk.
Former Presidential candidate Dr. Ben Carson was the commencement speaker, and encouraged the graduates to put their degrees to good use, saying that “Success is taking our God-given talent and using it to elevate our fellow man.”
We are so proud of our sisters and cannot wait to see all the amazing things they will do in the future!
Last week, the sisters of Sigma Theta Chi gathered at a local park for end of the year Will Downs. After Will Downs were given and Secret Sis Reveal, lots of photos were taken (per usual). We will miss our graduating seniors!
This year, Sigma Theta Chi performed an original mash-up of “Bye, Bye, Bye” and “I Want it That Way” for All-Campus Sing 2016 (aka Greek Sing). Greek Sing Chair Emily Hostetler arranged the piece and held twice a week rehearsals where actives learned the music, as well as the coordinating dance, created and taught by Alexa Satterlee.
Thanks to lots of hard work and dedication, Sigma Theta Chi placed third in the 2016 All-Campus Sing! As well, our brother fraternity, the Adelphikos placed third in their category. It was a good night for purple!
Special thanks to Sam Quatrini and Jeremy Glidden for being fantastic accompanists!
